Hi:
I've had several request from those needing to get off the list during the
holidays, so sending this information.

To join or leave the list all you have to do is send the approprate message

SUBSCRIBE or UNSUBSCRIBE

to the address with the "request" in it... as follows

Once you learn the formular for a rootsweb list, it is easy to remember. All
you do is add the word "request" just before the @ sign. I oversee about 15
list and I am so glad that it is that easy to remember <grin> There are
about 4500 rootsweb list for surnames, counties, states, etc. I get on and
off as needed, when I am working a name or a place.

To find out what list are avaiable for names or places go to
http://www.rootsweb.com/
It has links and a lot of other stuff. What I like about a rootsweb list is
that it is impossible to get a virus off the list, because the list will not
take attachments. The message must be in the email message. The list will
not take messages with coding in it either, so if you have problems turning
your coding off, go to the above address and follow the links to find the
page with the instructions for your program. (One of the reasons they won't
allow coding is to help keep the spam from the list. I've had 20 or so spam
messages a day --that bounced from the list and you didn't see-- because of
this and other built in features that help to protect you.)

If you have friends that are going online (because of a new computer!) send
them the above message.

Hurry back, and Merry Christmas.
Annette
