Had an interesting question asked of me as a Branch FH Consultant..

In this case, both parents had been divorced (of course!) and remarried.
None were Church members. One child wondered that since all adults were now
dead, whether they (the children) had the option to select who they were
sealed to.

I have this very real problem myself (personally). Before she died, I asked
mother if I could do her Temple work, and she agreed, but was distressed
when she learned that she would be sealed to my biological father. I made it
plain that she would have
the choice of accepting this or rejecting the sealing on the other side of
the veil. However, she wished only to be sealed to my step-father, who she
loved dearly. I know what has to be done as far as Temple policy is
concerned, but the other inquiry got me to thinking about which family I
would be sealed to. Logic dictates biological parents, but I dearly loved
my step-mother too. The suggestion has been made that we are sealed to our
patriarchal order. And yes, I realize that there must be ordinances and
marriages done beforehand. Anyway, that is the problem. Anyone got chapter
and verse on this question?

I would prefer any answer by private e-mail, as this could be considered as
sensitive by some.
