Hi Anyone
I keep getting my mail back from this address. I am trying again!!! Could
anyone just let me know if this is getting through? While I am here, I ,may
as well use up my time by posting my message AGAIN!! What I need to know is
if there is any way I can get in touch with some Organisation which has
records of trials, prison records etc of Convicts who were sent to Western
Australia. My Great-great Grandfather, William BRANSON was convicted of
Sheep Stealing (Oh the shame) on 9th March 1848 in Leicestershire. His
parents were married in Ibstock, Market Bosworth??, Leicestershire. Their
names Thomas and Catharine (nee STRETTON) He was held, first in Wakefield
Prison, sent to Portland Prison, then transported to Western Australia on
the "Scindian", arriving on 1st June 1850. The "Scindian" was the first
ever Convict ship to arrive in Western Australia. My Grandfather was
convict number three (that is the number he was given when he arrived here,
not from England) . Could someone at least let me know if this message gets
through AND hopefully, how I can get a copy of the trail.
Ta, muchly
Janice Hayes
