In RootsWeb Review, Vol 1,No.29 on Page 6(New Surname Mailing Lists)
the names VANNORMAN (amongst others VanARON and ,VanORMAN
My 5th Gt Grandfather was George VARNAM died 1820 name of wife unkown. His
son Michael VERNON 1773-1835 (headstone High Wycombe Church Yard) on his
wedding to Cathrerine Davenport July 1801 at Great Wigston signed himself
Michael VERNON. Suspect the spelling could be phonetical. Help requested to
trace back George Varnam as far as possible. Any assistance given in
starting a search much appreciated.
George Varnam believvd born at Blaby Leicestershire moved to Pailton in the
parish of Monks Kirby in Warwickshire 5 miles from Lutterworth. His will
dated 1815 states he was a farmer had a freehold Messuage or dwelling
house with barns stables buildings Yards Gardens and "several Closes Pieces
or Parcel of land bought of Thomas.
