A plea to all. I have identified my Gt. Gt. Grandfathers parents as William
& Mary Ann SMITH, nee CLUFF/CLOUGH/CLIFF, my Gt. Grandfather was Edward(or
Edwin) SMITH, b. 1847 at Whaplode Drove, Lincs. Other siblings were James,
Elizabeth, William, Sarah Ann, Fanny and Freer (Found from



BVRI - Baptisms: All at Whaplode, Lincs.

1837: 4 Jun: SMITH James s. William & Mary

1839: 21 Jul: SMITH Elizabeth d. William & Mary

1842: 18 Feb: SMITH William s. William & Mary

1847: 19 Sep: SMITH Edwin s. William & Mary Anne

1849: 20 Oct: SMITH Sarah Ann d. William & Mary Anne

1852: 1 Apr: SMITH Fanny d. William & Mary Anne

1856: 30 Jan 1856: SMITH Freer d. William & Mary Anne



The first four confirmed found in Whaplode Drove, but latter 3 may only be a
family from Whaplode, (two different places) yet to be confirmed.



But they are not there in 1851 census, and the Lincs. 1841 census is not
indexed yet I am advised.



My plea, could anyone look at any strays from their area to see if William
and Ann and family appear. I am trying to ascertain where they were born to
try to find the marriage. One point to note I found Edward in 1871 at Kirk
Ella, East Yorks, and 1881 at Whitwick, Leicestershire the 1881 had had the
birthplace transcribed as "Catchcold, Lincs." Which I can only presume is a
mis-hearing of Whaplode.



Any info from anything prior to 1881 would be marvellous.
