Hi I do not think there is a link here to the Lepine family.

As well as the Lepine family there are Lefine and Lefien members of the Huguenot Church of Threadneedle Street in London so it is possible that your ancestors were French Protestants who left France to escape persecution from the Catholics before and after the Revocation of the Edict of Nantes of 1685.

Certainly Huguenots did go to South Africa but you would need to research your ancestry back as far as you can from the modern day backwards first to see what you can find out.
