Hi,

We haven't fallen off the face of the earth. Renee' and I have been spread out
kind of thin lately. Her father had a massive stroke at the end of July in
Louisiana. Renee' went to Louisiana the next day and hasn't been home except
for one night. She got here about 9:15 pm. When we got up the next morning she
packed some stuff and headed back. I've been trying to take care of our dog,
the garden, my pond, and everything else here, while she helps her dad at the
hospital, takes care of his finances and other business, and helps her
grandmother.

It has actually rained here twice this August. I could have done without the
close lightening strike last night, though. The major part of the storms had
past and I was talking to one of my sons on the phone, when the room lit up.
About the same time there was a boom that rattled the windows. It struck close
enough that it set off our door bell. It didn't seem to bother our little dog,
but he couldn't seem to understand why I wasn't answering the door.

Renee' and I are still going to try to take our research trip this year. I'm
not sure at this point how we will work it all out or if we will get to do half
of what we want. I figure it would take us about a month and a half or two to
do everything we want, so we try to cram as much as we can into our short time
frame. We are lucky if we end up getting to do about half of what we want.

Take care,
Gene
