Hi, Patrick:

The only thing the above quote says is that Governor Michael Woods
approved the appointment of John Stuart to the office of Clerk of the
Peace (same as Justice of the Peace) after Sam'l Lewis, Alexander Kelly,
Thos Shelton, James Johnston, and George Poage moved from Greenbriar
county. The way the entry is made and punctuated could also let it be
interpreted as if Michael Woods is not the governor but is one of those
gentlemen who moved from the county.
