Subject: [LITHUANIA-L] Disk tidy up
Date: Tue, 1 May 2001 11:44:45 +0100

Hi All

from the past posts there seems to be a slight problem accessing the EI
database
if you have lots of data on your hard drive and the cache is small you will
encounter problems with downloading your info
as some of the files (graphics, data) can be extremely large.
My suggestion is to do one of the following

Run a tidy up program to recover some of the disk space
to do this it will depend on the Windows system you have(Win98) do this
Click on Start, Settings, Control Panel then click on Internet Options,
look for Temporary Internet Group, under it you'll find a "Delete Files"
button. Click it, it will delete your Temp Internet files from the hard
drive. Then click "settings" and increase the amount of disk space for
your Temp Internet Files. This will allow a bit faster downloads and
improve performance. Depending on the size of your C drive I'd suggest a
40% increase. Click OK and Apply.

Then run a defragment utility, Start, Accessories, System Tools, Scan
Disk to check for any disk errors then the same procedure but run "Disk
Defragmenter" this will place all the programs in nice little clusters
and they will run faster and you will have a bit more space on the drive
