I think this is a great idea!!! I am looking for John Locke, b. 1798 Ky or
Tn. He married Lucinda Spivey and they lived in Jackson County, Tn. John
Lock fought in the War of 1812. He enlisted in Major William Russell's
Regiment, Samuel Cowan's Company of the Volunteer Mounted Gunmen on
September 28, 1812. John Lock's number was # 91. Russell's Regiment was
attached to General Coffee's Brigade. They fought at the Battle of New
Orleans. He returned with the brigade and was mustered out at Murfreesboro,
Tennessee on June 5, 1814. For this service he drew $122.23 plus $78.00 for
horse pay. His children were: Mary Ann "Polly" who m. Joseph Keith - Joseph
who married Aletha Jane Keith - Sidney - Nancy J. and perhaps more. I have
heard many times that Lucinda was a Native American. They were my
ggggrandparents. Would love to solve this mystery. Who were the parents of
John? I have heard that his father was Joseph, but no proof. HELP.
Regards, Betty
