I got a good mystery.
It wasn't until too long ago (January) that I knew anything about my family
tree past Samual Taylor Locke and John S. Lock. What I did find out (thanks
to ) was that I had been barking up the wrong family tree.
I had been looking for the connection to England or Germany, but my tree is
from Sweden. It had been a great aunt who started the search over 50 years
ago, but had brick walled into a John Alfred Locke (no wonder, wrong surname
and middle name). I had posted the information to the list serve and found
out that Samual Taylor had had three son's and one daughter, but the names
were unknown of the three sons. All Auntdoll had was the birth and death
dates. When I posted, she noticed that the names of John and Samual
somewhat matched, their dates were very close (months and years were there),
and that Elmer Ellsworth Locke (my great-great-grandfather) had the same
dates as Samuals oldest son. This is all good and dandy, I now can trace my
roots back to Lars Carlson Lock born 1608, sailed over to New Sweden in
1648, and died in 1688.
The mystery is:
Who are Elmer Ellsworth Locke's two younger brothers. (I will post the
dates and other information when I get home)
I'd also would like to see a roll call of any one else descended from Lars
Carlson Lock of Sweden. Most of the family has lived in the Delaware valley
(PA, NJ, and DE) since 1648.
