Subject: [LOCKE-L] 2 April 1635 listing of passengers - William LOCKE
Date: Mon, 19 Apr 1999 10:27:01 -0500
Hi everybody!
Found an interesting site through GenealogyPortal.com
http://www.genealogyportal.com
concerning a William LOCKE -
According to the information, this William LOCKE was from Stepney,
Essex Co., England, with a final destination of Woburn, MA, USA. His
age as of 2 APR 1635 is listed as age 6, but does not list any parents
with the name of LOCKE. He is listed just below the Nicholas DAVIES
family - Nicholas DAVIES, age 40, tailor of Wapping; Mrs. Sarah
DAVIES, age 48; and Joseph DAVIES, age 13. The DAVIES family shows a
final destination of Charlestown (SC?), and the route the ship would
have taken from London to the States suggests that the "Planter" would
have arrived in MA before SC, so William LOCKE may have traveled under
the protection of the DAVIES family. Possibly they were somehow
related - an aunt perhaps, or cousins - or maybe just friends of the
LOCKE family???
There is a link to William LOCKE in this page,
http://www.tiac.net/users/dhayes/ , but unfortunately, it must be to a
site STILL IN DEVELOPMENT. All I got from that URL was:
"Index of /users/dhayes
Parent Directory "
but nothing else could be traced from that except for the phone access
# listing for the TIAC Corp ISP.
Anyway, thought someone could get some use out of this.
Take care!
