found that he and his brother William had stated that they were born in
Albemarle County, VA. We know that Philip enlisted for service int he Rev.
War about 1780 at New Glasgow which is located in Amherst Co.. Although
the town no longer exists, except for one ancient house, it was known as a
"post village ont he Southern Railroad". That area was in Albemarle County
until 1758 when Amherst Co. was created with its boundary including New
Glasgow. Some of this information was given to us in 1988 when we visited
with the occupant of the old house mentioned above which is located near
the railroad track which is still used. He told us that it used to be the
village store. It appears that very likely this is the area in which
