Hello London listers

I have searched the Archives and have not come up with a definitive answer
although some are tantalizingly close. Could someone kindly spell this out
for me? What were the street names which bounded the Square Mile? Was
there a specific site which was the centre of it? What was the origin of
this square mile being known as the City of London and when did this
designation cease? Thank-you very much. Pat in BC Canada
