Subject: Occupations - Smith & Engine Smith

Hi,
I would like to find out the difference between the two occupations
mentioned above, my n x ggrandfather was in 1834-38 (the time of his
marriage and baptism of his first child) shown as a 'Smith' which I assume
would be some sort of blackmith or similar. later at the marriage of his
first son (my n-1 x ggrandfather)in 1861 he is shown as an 'Engine Smith'.
What would be the difference ? could it have been early railway or steam
engine work?
As he lived in London close to what is now the 'Old Street Underground
Station' would there have been any foundries, smithies or workshops near
there he might have worked in ?
Thanks for any information
