Hello All:
I joined this list a while ago and have been eavesdropping for a while.
I have a few queries but will put them into separate messages.
The first is this: The sister of my gg/gfather was:
Elisa or Eliza ROBERTSON; b. 26 Nov 1808; m. George BROWN
children:
Sarah Elizabeth BROWN; b. 10 Mar 1834? - source family diary
George BROWN: b. June 1840? - source family diary
as well as a second daughter and 2 more sons, details unknown - source
mother's letter.
[note: Eliza may have been Elizabeth - there was a child Elizabeth born
1800 - of whom there is no information at all, so she may have died in
infancy and the name subsequently given to Eliza]
In a letter to her brother in the Cape Colony on the 26th October 1860,
Eliza gave two addresses, as follows:
Mrs G. Brown
46 Fairingdon Street
Holborn
or
11 Hilldrop Crescent
Camden Road
Holloway.
My questions are:
1) Why 2 addresses - would one have been a business address and if so,
which one? I have a very good London map on its way to me but perhaps
there have been some changes and I have been to London just twice for
brief visits.
2) Would someone check the 1851 census for a reference for this family.
3) Is anyone working on this family?
Any help appreciated. Thanks and regards. Delia Robertson.
