Hi,
I recently visited an LDS FHC where they had the complete
transcription of the 1881 census - I found a candidate for
one of my ancestors, THOMAS CHESTER, a soldier, which fits
with family stories.
The problem is that there is only a short box on the
transcription for the occupation and his
occupation has been truncated as SOLDIER IN 1ST+. I
presume the original gave his regiment which would be very useful.
If any one out there is planning on looking at a
microfilm of the Lewisham census (not a transcription) could
they please please please have a look and tell me what it
originally said.
His address in the census is:
5, WHATMAN ROAD, LEWISHAM (0739 80 41 134/172)
he was visiting the house headed by James Skipper.
