What you are looking for is
Houndsditch
So named, it is rumoured, because the ditch was frequently filled with
dead dogs.
A street named Houndsditch still exists running between Aldgate and
Bishopsgate following the line of the outside of the city wall. It has a
church od St Botolph's at both ends
