Although there were never (to my knowledge) members of the Royal family
living in Balham, S London, it is quite possible that the wife and
family were stashed there, while Herbert served his royal master
elsewhere
You may get lucky with the Royal Archives at Windosor Castle - just
write to The Archivist, Windsor Castle, Berks - the post office will
find it. She has lklists of inddor servants, if you state the period (as
above). If the service was to one of the other royal households (of the
various brothers, nephews and cousins of the King) it may be more
difficult, but start at the top. Eve
