Dear John,
Thanks for your response to my EDE connection....I don't have much because
we have not pursued it further at this point. Here is what I have:
My gggg-grandfather George PALMER b. 1865-70 married Elizabeth EDE b. circa
1870. We have found an Elizabeth EDE born in Chiddingfold, Surrey and we
speculate she may be ours....also to the *?same parents was born a Mehitabel
EDE b.circa 1890 (also Chiddingfold) who married a Thomas FRANCE in 1814 in
St Pancras Old Church. George PALMER and Thomas FRANCE had a law practice
together in London. Now it is possible that Mehitabel could have been
*?Elizabeth's niece, but we know they were connected somehow because the
France name was used as a middle name for the grandchildren and
g-grandchildren of George PALMER and Elizabeth EDE. We would like to know
more about the PALMER/EDE/FRANCE families. We know the PALMERS owned a
residence in Tunbridge Wells, KNT called Boyne House and their oldest son
was born there. However they were married in London...St. Marylebone I
believe and had a residence in St. Pancras and are interred in a crypt in
the new church of St. Pancras.
That is about all I know at this point and if there is something that
strikes a chord with you, let me know. I will keep the BEST connection in
mind. (no pun intended)
Cheers,
Pat from Michigan
ps:
Regarding your curiosity about finding the same relly's on both sides of the
Thames....I think that if they could so afford they often had more than one
residence....or quite possibly they moved back and forth frequently.
