Dear List,
My GG grandfather Dr Thomas King CHAMBERS (1819-1889) married to
Henrietta Reavely Maitland in 1892, lived in a large house called
"Shrubshill" in or near Sunningdale, near Windsor. I was wondering if
any kind person would be able to tell me whether this house still
existed, or how I could find out if it did?
At one stage TKC was physician to Albert Edward, Prince of Wales (son of
Queen Victoria) and travelled to Europe with the Prince. TKC actively
encouraged the education and training of women as doctors. Unfortunately
he lost a leg due to some type of aneurysm and so spent much time
carving Aesops Fables into panels in his Dining Room. What else would
one do in such circumstances!!! I believe these panels were subsequently
removed to another house.
I would appreciate any help available
Many thanks
