Hello Clyde
The entries are coded such as on St. Pancras HO 107/1493
BIRD 65r,137r,174r 268r.

HO 107 is the class reference. HO = Home Office; later classes start with
RG for Registrar General. This is the Record Office filing code.

1493 is the file/bundle number. A film may contain one of more bundle.

65/137/174... is the folio number. When the separate books were
incorporated into the bundle covering an area the page numbers were
duplicated. To uniquely identify the location a folio number was
introduced it was stamped on adjacent pages. The r indicates it is the
recto page (the one on the right when the book is opened) the other page
is the verso.

So to find the entry HO107/1493 65r you would insert the film and advance
to 1493 and then forward to where 65 is stamped on the page then look at
the righthand page for the entry for BIRD. [Praise be to all those who
gave their time in creating the index]

I have no idea at all to what these no.s refer. Any clues? do I have to
go to FRC to decipher?
