I think he gave up the one (driving around on carts in the wet) to do
the other (inside most of the time, and less humping and hauling).

I would like to know who said this, and if there is any factuial
confirmation. Was it a young man who just saw the two occupations and
though, oh well, suppose so? It certainly doesn't fit any official
information I have ever seen, and no one else has ever said this in
England.
