Subject: German hospital?
Date: Tue, 28 Sep 1999 18:42:34 +0200
Dear list,
I have just received and read a book from South Africa which contains some
information on members of my family. My great-great grandfather was Dr
Julius Heinrich STEINAU, and, referring to his daughter, the book says:
''....and later in London, where her father was head of the German
hospital''
I know that he was living in Pennsylvania, US in 1840, in City Road,
Finsbury in 1845, and had gone to South Africa by 1858. So the time frame is
betwen 1840 and 1858.
Does anyone know anything about 'the German hospital', location, records...
anything at all?
I would be so grateful for any information.
Jo Taylor
