Hi all,

There was some discussion regarding this CD on the list a while ago.
For the benefit of newcomers, there are 2 1851 census CDs - one by
the LDS which was the trial version for the 1881 census, this covers
only 3 counties - Devon, Norfolk and Warwick.

The other CD by Family Tree Maker is produced in collaboration with Ron
Taylor, which he states on his website is a compilation from his own
research and the 2% census. The 2% census is available on-line and
I have heard it is a copyright infringement (not that it stopped me
from checking my names!) and Ron Taylor has a lookup service on his
site with a Surname index and 'strays' indexes for several counties.
He states there is over 2 million names.
