Hello listers:
I will post this one more time since I plan on unsubscribing in the near
future.
I want to thank everyone who has been helping me trace my RENNIE family.
I have received many good ideas since I joined.
I thought I would share some new information. If you have any ideas please
email me. I greatly appreciate the help.
I am trying to locate my Aunt Norma's maternal family. Her mom was Georgina
Rennie MacAra. Georgina's siblings were Archibald and Maud Violet Rennie.
There was one more sister who became a nun. We do not know her name.
Through the help of a lister, I discovered the year that Georgina and
siblings were born. Georgina was born 1890. Maud, 1892 and Archibald, 1894
(not 100% sure).
Recently, my aunt found the marriage certificate of Georgina! She also
found some old photos of the unknown Aunt and Uncle.
The marriage certificate facts are:
Jan.12, 1912: Marriage solemnized at the Register Office in the district of
Woolwich in the county of London.
Name & surname: James Macara (that is the spelling here) 26 yrs.
Georgina Rennie, 22 yrs.
profession: James, Pipe fitter at WATER WORKS.
Residence at time of marriage: James Macara, 111 Hudson Road, Plumstead
Georgina Rennie, 79 Sladesdale Road?, Plumstead
James' father: Robert Macara/profession: machinist Royal Arsenal
Georgina Rennie's father: Archibald Andrew Rennie/profession: fitter Royal
Arsenal
The marriage was witnessed by R.B.Macara and MAUD VIOLET RENNIE
_____The rest is just official signatures and wording.
Also, I have a clipping from our local newspaper, dated 1970. It is a
birthday announcement for Georgina Rennie Macara. She discusses her life up
until her 80th birthday. There is some interesting facts in it:
It reads," When Mrs.McAra was a little girl in ALDERSHOT, England, her
mother taught her to sing scales. At the age of 18 (1908) she performed on
the stage with a singing and dancing troupe and once played the part of
little Eva in a production of Uncle Tom's Cabin."
Wouldn't it be incredible if I could find articles about her time on stage
in England!! Do you have any ideas on this?
The old photos revealed that Maud Rennie had a daughter, Zella. In one
photo, Zella is holding a baby. The picture seems to be taken in the 1940s.
There is another photo of a newlywed couple. On the back it says "to Aunt
Georgina, love Edna and Tom, dated April 10, 1943"
And lastly, a photo of the unknown Uncle Archibald Rennie. He is standing
at a printing press! I am guessing that was his trade.
Finally, some clues. Now, I just have to find these unknown relatives.
If anyone has ideas, please write to me. I have had some wonderful help.
Thank you again,
Antoinette
