There were a number of 'rural' sites round London where gypsies pitched
regularly - most of the Commons, any semi-clear site handy to
habitations, all gradually eroded by development of new housing estates
- so the sites would be different at different times. Gypsy Hill when
built over became a very respectable area for City clerks.
