Hello June,
Having myself found ancestors living in Peabody Buildings (mine were in
Clerkenwell), I know that there is a Website devoted to the work of the
Peabody Trust. Don't know the address I am afraid, but I found it very
easily using, I believe, Ask Jeeves.
In addition, the London Metropolitan Archives (they also have a Website) do
have some records deposited by the Peabody Trust, which includes lists of
people in the apartments, details of their line of work, and even previous
address. BUT before you get too excited, very few records have survived of
the many Peabody-funded housing estates.
While I believe the LMA do not do research, I am sure they should be able to
tell you if they have anything at all on your particular building of
interest.
Hope this helps
Linda

Bethnal Green, Hackney areas. Have found a number of my people living in
"Peabody Building S" . Am not sure if this stands for South or Shadwell:
neither is clear from the certificates. Believe that Peabody was an
Amercian philanthropist who built homes for the London poor in the 1800's.
Would appreciate listers input.
