Hello to everyone,
Is there, yes, another of those SKS who has access to the 1881 census on
CD please try something for me? I've jst been plunking through the
online IGI and it's occurred to me that my elusive CLAYTON family
belonging to John Sharp Clayton of probably Islington or Camberwell or
perhaps East Dulwich (37 Hanely Rd West in Islington though I don't know
what census area that would be in)--anyway, I'm wondering if it hasn't
been spelled CLAXTON as in John Sharp CLAXTON because oddly enough, the
IGI has 3 such entires though all from a slightly earliler time--a few
decades only--and in another area called Great Yarmouth Norfolk. it's a
maybe. i guess we'd know for sure, if there were such a household and
if there were children, say, Mary Jane about 15 yrs and a couple of
others (just perhaps) by names like Carrie, kate, and Mag or maggie.
It's worth a shot.
CLAXTON, John Sharp who in 1881 would proably have a wife named Ann.
But, see, I've been looking only in London areas and I think there's a
ghost of a chance that he may have gone north to Yks to find work.
Hunch only. refers back to the Claxton genforum.
TIA with fingers crossed and BFN,
Leeanna
