I have numerous ancestors born in Islington prior to 1837 and would like to
search the parish records for any information I can find. From the Batch
Number records it would appear that St. Barnabas is the Church of England
church in the area and the records appear only to have been filmed between
1856 and 1876. Can anyone tell me how old this church is? If there are
parish records prior to this where would I be able to find them, given that
I live in Canada? If there wasn't a church there prior to 1856, which would
be the next nearest Church of England church? There is a Lower Street
Independent church for which there appear to be records from 1769 - what is
or was an Independent church?

I would be grateful for any assistance anyone can give.

Many thanks.
