This does not imply that he was born there or even necessarily had
lived there for a long time - just that in the 3 weeks period when the
banns were being called, he was living in the parish (or nominally so,
since he may just have said that, to avoid paying two sets of banns
fees.) Cities often attracted people from outside their own catchment
area, who could be bold and say they belonged.
However, have the archives actually checked every chapel, as well as
the churches? I doubt it, since the records would be in London if
surviving.

Banns lasted a maximum 6 months - some clergy were sticklers and made
the couple have them called again after a couple of months. Others were
quite pleased to see a couple doing the right thing (at last) and didn't
fuss.
Trawl around for Moodys with Bible names - Aaron etc - and check if
they have a Moses among them. IGI is the first resort, but check the
entry.
