I have a copy of a Marriage Licence (which mentions the Archbishop of
Canterbury but doesn't seem to be in the index) for Diederich KROSCH who
married Elizabeth JAMES at St Mary Whitechapel on 23 Dec 1796.
What surprises me is that there seems to be a fee of 200 pounds (yes 200)
associated with the granting/issuing of the licence. Have I read the
document correctly? Was this the usual fee?
