I have a ceremonial (wooden) axe that has been passed down to me through the
WALLIS line and which is said to be a Wheelwright's axe that was carried in
the procession for William IV's coronation (1830?). My known WALLISes
(William and Thomas) moved to London (really Surrey) after 1851 and were
Printers in London but their Dad, Thomas, was a shipbuilder in Stoke
Damerell, Devon.

There were lots of WALLISes around in London pre 1851 so I am wondering if
any of them were cousins or uncles of these enterprising lads and may have
been wheelrights?

Can anyone shed any light?

Thanks
