Subject: [Lon] 1861 census / A soldier in London in 1859
Date: Mon, 26 Mar 2001 07:50:49 EST

Hello,

This is my first posting to this list - please excuse my ignorance of London
matters. I have just discovered that my Yorkshire / Lincolnshire based family
have members who were living in London in 1859 and married at St Stephen the
Martyr church in Marylebone.

I am hoping they may still have been there in 1861. Can anyone tell me if
there are any surname or street indexes for this census in London?

Also, on a very, very long shot, the groom's occupation on the 1859 wedding
certificate is given as "soldier". Are there any knowledgeable people who
could suggest which regiments were in London at the time??????

Thanks for any help at all on this.

Irene
