The first thing is obviously to get any birth certificate (try the ten
year old in 1881 for another census address, which might just have an
in-law staying with them). And just faintly possibly,. a more useful
birthplace.
Then look first at the IGI, which does have a certain number of Jewish
entries. You may find name patterns which reflect those of the sons.
You could also look in the GRO indexes for the marriage of the couple.
When you have this, the Synagogue entry from the Beth Din of the Ketubah
mnight give the Jewish version of the name (something like Jehudah ben
Eleazar and Mariamne Xxxx) with other clues. That is, assuming they
married in Jewish rites.
