Two essential books (in my opinion) for anyone interested in their
ancestors lives are now available on CD from Archive Cd Books -"The
Skilled Labourer 1760-1832 & The Village Labourer 1760-1832". The first
of which covers such occupations as miners, cotton workers, woollen &
worsted workers, silk weavers, Frame work knitters as well as
the various Luddites.
The second covers Enclosure, the effects of enclosure on farmers,
cottages, squatters etc.. Loss of resources for labourers, fuel,
gleaning, etc.. Remedies including the minimum wage, Poor law reform and
much much more.
Cheers
Guy
