I find this interesting as that was a way used here to take care of the
wife
and children/husband and children of a widow/widower. I have several
instances of this happening within my immigrating English families. The
husband/wife dies and the next sibling of that person, in line marrys the
widow/widower to care for the family.

I hope that someone with better biblical knowledge than I have can let us
know, but I have a strong feeling that it is written somewhere in the Old
Testament that it was the DUTY of a man to marry his widowed sister-in-law
and to adopt the children of his brother as his own.
