Subject: [Lon] John WELSH, railway smith

Any suggestions please on finding further info on John WELSH, a railway
smith, born Lambeth. Would he work on the train, railway line or in a
workshop for instance? Also I cannot find his death. He was on the 1861
census but his wife was a widow on the 1871. They lived in Kennington. I
have tried likely certificates but no luck. There are rather a lot of John
WELSHs. Has anyone asked the local record office (Lambeth?) for a 10 year
search and if so were they willing etc. On his marriage he was a widower of
Peckham & a journeyman blacksmith. His father was John, a dyer. No trace of
him either. HELP!!
