I have a few relatives for the Camberwell area, and it according to my
certificates it either lies in the Count of London or Surrey.
According to the 'Handbook of Civil Registration Districts of England and
Wales';
Camberwell (originally 'St Giles Camberwell) (SRY, LND) Created 1.7.1837.
Abolished 1.4.1919 and registers transferred to Wandsworth RD.GRO vols. 4.
(1837 -1851), 1d (1852 -1919).
Camberwell (LND, GTL) Created 1.4.1930 out of Wandsworth RD. Abolished
1.10.1991 and registers transferred to Southwark RD. GRO vols 1d
(1930 -1946), 5c (1946 - 1974, 11 (1974 - 1991).
According to my Parish map of London the two Parishes in the Camberwell
associated with St Mary , were St Mary Peckham, and St Mary Magdalen.
Also as Camberwell is south of the river Thames it can't possibly be in
Middlesex.
Hope this helps,
Best Regards,
