Hello Listers,
The following are taken from a book on researching family history in the Victoria's Central Goldfields. I have picked out the London links that I could find.
SUMMERFIELD, Henry. Deserted wife and child; age about 36, native of London, by trade a tailor and now or lately residing at Taradale. Warrant issued at Melbourne. 11.2.1858
WYLD, -. Deserted his child at St.Kilda; aged 50, native of London, a tailor. Warrant issued at Melbourne. 21.10.1858
CONNELLY, John. Deserted his wife; aged 29, native of London, an engineer, also works as a fireman. Warrant issued at Melbourne. 30.12.1858
JULIFF, Joseph. Information is requested respecting Joseph Juliff. He is a Londoner,a travelling musician, plays the violin and sings comic songs, both very badly; frequents public houses where he is ready to act in any capacity; aged 28 or 29. General appearance dirty and tawdry. He is likely to be found near Horsham or St.Arnaud. July 1865
LAWLOR, William, 1855. Letter from mother Sarah in London requesting information of his whereabouts. Obtained conditional pardon 25th February 1853 in W.A. and came to goldfields. Note on file: 'Now in Pentridge Prison under the name of William ELLARD, sentenced to 7 years for highway robbery at Ballarat'.
I hope this is not too long.
Liz
