I have been hunting for the births of Benjamin MASON (c 1800) and Anne
GREEN(c1805) for ages. The only information I have is that on the 1851
census they are both listed as born in "London".
I know that Benjamin's father is Samuel MASON, an ironmonger and Anne's is
John GREEN, a baker. (from their marriage cert).
The following generations all seemed to live in the MEOT area.
I have found birth/christening records in St Matthew, Bethnell Green for
several children of Samuel and Elizabeth MASON. And also a christening
record for a Benjamin MASON, son of Samuel & Betty on 9th Dec 1792 in St
Andrew Holborn (I know the dates are iffy but 1851 dates aren't accurate
Can someone tell me if Holborn and Bethnal Green would be the same type of
areas at that time ? I mean if one is upper-class and one very poor then
it's unlikely that they are the same family!!
I don't suppose anyone would have the St Andrew Holborn records to see if
the father Samuel is an ironmonger?
