Chronic anaemia is a deficiency of haemglobin in the blood. She would
have been very pale. Oedema is swelling of tissue caused by fluid
retention, often in the ankles, sometimes called dropsy. Often indicates
a heart condition. They used often to list symptoms, no longer allowed
as a cause of death. Doctors now have to state specific illness causing
the swelling, etc.
