Further to the recent threads on St Leonards Shoreditch I am interested in the suggestion that this church did not appear to ask too many questions of the bride and groom.
I received details of a marriage that took place at St Leonards and was quite surprised ( and disappointed!! ) that no details were given of either the bride or groom except name and age; not even parents' names. This was in 1824 and the bride was 18 so I am now wondering whether this was a marriage without parental consent. There were two witnesses but neither immediately recognisable as family.
Any views anybody?
