Thanks to everyone who responded concerning the Subject Matter. I found a
partial answer to my question on the excellent website of the East of London
Family History Society under Cemeteries. They show that the registers of
the City of London Cemetery are held at the cemetery and personal searches
are available at 11.75 pounds each which seems rather steep. I notice that
some of the other cemeteries listed have no charges.

Another cemetery which likely has my ancestors is the Tower Hamlets
Cemetery. Their registers are at the London Municipal Archives. Does
anyone know if they charge for searches? Does anyone do lookups at those
Archives?
