Yes, the Births and Deaths Registration Act, 1926 legislated for that
register.
Limited searches are allowed if you are a parent of the stillborn child
or a sibling.
It is now getting to the stage where such individuals have themselves
died and it may be possible for others to obtain searches from the
register if the above have died.
