My understanding is that many of the London 1841 (and most other early
censuses) originals are written in pencil and are very faded. Consequently
the fiche and digital scans taken from the films of these originals have
todate been difficult to read. Archive CD Books have recently developed a
digitizing technology that overcomes this problem which they are now
applying to all of their Census CD issues. Unfortunately they do not have
the London 1841 on their list of future CDs. I do not know how S&N will
solve this problem on their upcoming CD set. Perhaps some knowledgeable
person could enlighten us. I would recommend you hold off buying until
after the S&N CD set is issued (later this year?).
