Thanks everyone, Imogen, Ken, and Ed for the information on the above. I
really didn't want to assume on my own that Magdala Road could be Magdala
Avenue.

By 1881 this Samuel Williams was in Rotherhithe with his wife's widowed
father. After this he became a headmaster at Cleave's Grammar School in
Yalding for 37 years or so. I've had such fun tracking him.
