My Dad and his male siblings, all born between 1905 and 1920 in Cumberland
and Westmorland, have the whole name of another family member as their two
forenames.

This was probably at the instigation of "old auntie" who brought up my
grandmother [born 1883] when Grannie's mother died shortly after giving
birth.

It has been an absolute godsend for the family tree, because the surnames
were all fairly common ones, but I knew when I'd got the right marriage.
Dad, for instance, is named after his mum's dad's mum's twin brother!

Is this a particularly "north-country" thing?

Delia
