Subject: Workhouse birth

I have just noticed a request regarding registration of a child born in a workhouse.It has made me think.

My dad was born in a Workhouse Infirmery, I have the proof of that. But I am not able to find his birth certificate anywhere. Could it be that as his mother was quite ill and she had to stay in the Infirmery, that no one got around to registering him? I have the workhouse notes about his birth,but there is no sign of him being registered any where. I have tried every avenue to find his registration, so I have come to the conclusion that it probably wasn't done. Anyone got any thoughts on it for me please? Madeleine.
