I have more than 20 birth certs where the birth has taken place in the
Workhouse...They dont have to be residents and as late as 1935 even
tho they rented houses in the area and had Husbands, the Workhouse
had the nearest doctors and Nurses and it was free!
Many addresses that looked like an ordinary when checked were found
to be Workhouses.
I was born in the Westmorland Road one just off the Walworth Road
and my Parents lived in a terrace a few streets away in Elizabeth
Street..
